Project Details
We’re inviting native Sylheti speakers to take part in a paid voice recording project. The recordings build speech datasets that help AI understand Sylheti — a language spoken by millions, yet recognised by almost no voice technology today.
Here’s the honest version: right now, no voice assistant understands Sylheti. Not Google, not Siri, none of them. That only changes when enough native speakers record their voice properly, in one place. The task itself is simple — record short prompts from home using your phone and submit through our app. Someone from our team guides you the whole way.
🧩 What you’ll do
Read speech
- Short Sylheti sentences appear one at a time — read each aloud, naturally.
- Each is about 5–12 seconds. One sentence, one recording.
- Topics: daily life, local news, culture, current affairs.
- No sentence repeats in your session.
Conversational speech
- Have a normal phone conversation in Sylheti with a partner.
- Both sides are recorded separately.
- No script — just talk the way you normally would.
📋 This is for you if
- Sylheti is your mother tongue — you grew up speaking it at home.
- You’re in West Tripura, near the Bangladesh border.
- You’re between 18 and 55 — every age in that range is welcome.
- You’ve got a quiet indoor spot and a phone to record on.
- Men and women both needed.
That’s all. No experience, no special gear.
🔐 Your privacy, handled properly
- You sign a clear consent form before anything is recorded — no surprises.
- Your name and personal details are never published or shared outside the project.
- You can pull out any time before the final data is delivered.
- We only collect the basics: age group, gender, district, state, and device type.
